Summer Update
Well, the word on the street is that I am, once again, slacking terribly on my blog. I promised Mom a new post a week or so ago, but now that Granny has officially made her requests, I suppose I best get on it.
Overall, things are still going splendidly well. My director at work is back in position, and I've fallen neatly into my new routine. At home, the flowers and things I planted in the spring are growing and blooming. Dad will be delighted to hear that my car (which we spent half a day cleaning out last time I was home) is still unbelievably clean.
All of the above is fine and wonderful, but I kind of doubt that's what you're here to read about. Most people here (myself included) are most interested by the recent changes in my life. Namely, Clay. Yes, he's still around. We've now been dating over 4 months! (as he was kind enough to note with a dozen red roses delivered to work) We are, in a word, disgusting. You know that couple you see at the grocery holding hands? The couple walking down the street that has to keep stopping for a quick kiss? The disgusting couple sitting on the picnic blanket at the park whispering disgusting sweet nothings over bread and cheese? Yup, those are all us. And, I'm pretty sure I speak for both of us when I say we absolutely love it.
Last night we went with some friends to Central Park in Old Louisville to see "Shakespeare in the Park". This year's production was "As You Like It". Quite honestly, I didn't watch much of the play. They talked funny, and I couldn't keep up. I was kind of distracted by the picnic and the company, but I had a wonderful time!
Also on the agenda this week was the new Pixar movie, "Cars". I have to give it to this one, it was a great movie!! I didn't go in with such high expectations because I'm not a big "car" fanatic. That was pretty insignificant to the entire theme of the movie, though. This one was definitely worth a peek.
Next weekend, I'm actually going to be popping into Mayfield for a very brief stay. Stacy, my director, and I are planning to head to Mayfield on Sunday afternoon so that we can go to Paducah on Monday morning and visit the Western Baptist child care center. The two directors from their center visited us this past week, and we've been really wanting to see their facility. Some big changes are starting to smolder at our facility, so we think this is a great opportunity to see how some other top-notch centers are doing it right.
I think that's about all of my newsy news for now. I'm about to head out for the day with Amy to do some shopping or something fun. After stepping on a mouse in our house and feeling its back crunch under her foot, Amy needs some time away, and we need to invest in new mouse poison.
