Spring Busy-ness

Well, Spring has officially sprung in Louisville. This is evident not only in the green trees and the fact that I've planted flowers (yes, really!), but also in the fact that Derby is upon us! Louisville has a completely different excitement and feel to it this season. I love it here!!

Other than things like the Derby Balloon Glow and shopping for spring clothes and Derby hats, I've also been busy doing some other shopping. Some of you were gracious enough to bless me with Birthday money (and bonuses!) for me to get a new digital camera. Well, a certain special someone really surprised me by going on and getting me a new digital camera for my birthday (along with a beautiful bracelet and a brand new cut and color for my hair!!), so I decided I should invest my Birthday money into something I really needed even more...a new BED!

Sometime during my college years, I moved into an apartment and "inherited" a full sized bed. No one really seems to know the origin of said bed, but I think it might have come over on the Mayflower with Chris Columbus. It's always been a little smooshy, and a little rickety. For years now, it's had issues of actually falling through the rails. I've propped it in various ways, but recently it finally just crashed into the rails in a not-so-fixable sort of way. The bed is dead. I decided the only viable option was to just get the rails out from under it and put the mattress and box springs straight onto the floor. I got the mattress off and lifted the box springs out of the rail pit only to hear something akin to Bob Barker's Plinko. The wood inside the box springs has just rotted away until it all just fell to the bottom. To say that sleeping on this poor contraption is akin to sleeping on a marshmallow at this point would be generous.

And so the search began. I have some money to spare (finally), but I don't want to blow all of it on a lifetime bed. I assume if I can sleep well on the marshmallow, I can sleep on most anything. After rolling, jumping, and bouncing on every low-end bed in Louisville, I finally settled on "the one". Tomorrow morning, my very first brand new queen sized bed with pillow-top will be delivered. I thought about taking the whole day off work just to nap and read and such, but decided I could maybe wait.

Not only have I gotten to buy a new big kid bed, I've also been shopping for bedding, since none of my old full sized stuff will do. I finally found a perfect "Bed-in-a-bag" set that works beautifully! It's blue, green, and white seersucker stripes on one side, and blue and green plaid on the reverse. I'm so excited I can hardly stand it.

Now that I've bored you with bed-talk, I'll get to the good stuff. Yes, I'm still dating the Clay. I've got to admit, it's still going much better than I could have ever hoped! We cook together (meaning, he cooks and I clean up), we take walks together, we sit around and read together, and we love to hang out with each others' friends. He changes all the light bulbs at my house, and I pick cat hair off the couch at his house. We've fallen into a routine of having dinner and hanging out most every night. Weekends are spent together hanging out with friends, drinking coffee, running errands, and just really enjoying each others' company.

I actually had a dream a few nights ago that I was wearing a tangerine orange colored wedding dress. The wedding was about to start, and I was crying. Andy was trying to get me to put the wedding off because I was obviously not ready. He just didn't understand that I was actually crying because my bridesmaids were all wearing hunter green corduroy jumper dresses. I don't really try to make sense of my dreams, but I will admit that I'm often amused by them, and thought I'd share. If any of you happen to see any tangerine orange wedding dresses in my size, go on and pick it up for me.

Well, Granny. I know I've neglected my blogging for too long now, but maybe this nonsensical drivel will satisfy you for a while. I have new sheets to wash and a full size mattress and not-so-very-boxed springs to dispose of!
