Mother's Day

Today is Mother's Day. And it has been perfect.

Clay woke me up for breakfast in bed. But we actually ate it at the kitchen table. I think you'll understand why it's not a good idea to have pancakes and watermelon in bed with a toddler.

Afterwards, we got ready and headed to the zoo. Guess what Lila did while we were looking for her shoes? This.
My goodness, but she's a girl who knows what she wants, and how to get it. I love her.

We are really enjoying our zoo membership. We've found that arriving right when they open at 10:00am is perfect for our schedules and perfect for zoo-visiting. We get front row parking, the animals are active, it's still cool out, and we even hit at perfect time for the sea lion training!

And guess what Lila-cakes got to do for the first time today. This.

And she loved it. As did I.

And to top off our perfect day at the zoo, guess who was preening just for us? This guy.
And for Mother's Day? Who has the best husband? Me.
I told Clay that all I wanted for Mother's day was a little time away. No, not a big fancy vacation or anything crazy. Just a couple hours to blog. Kid-free. Laundry and dishes-free. Dr. Who-on-the-tv-free. So what did he do? Clay and Lila gave me gift cards to Target, told me to buy something just. for. me. Then go blog.

So I bought myself a shirt, and a new pillow (the FANCY kind, for TEN dollars, instead of the $3.50 one I usually buy!!!), and some new nail polish. There might've been some Golden Oreos in the cart as well, but I'm not telling.

And now? I'm at the coffee shop. By myself. Sitting. Blogging. Drinking a four dollar smoothie with REAL whipped cream. And I like it.

Also, I should let you know. I spent my Birthday moneys! I got myself a fancy new white iPhone 4! AND I finally figured out how to easily get the pictures off it and into my handy netbook. So these pictures aren't the greatest quality, because they were from my phone, and not the fancy-pants camera. But THANK YOU, Papa and Granny, Grandaddie and Grandmamma, and Mim and Pop for my Birthday moneys for my new phone! I got a huge buy-back from Radio Shack on my old phone, too, so I still have a little money left!

I'm glad to hear you had such a good Mother's Day! But Lila is the real winner. She got the best momma a child could ever dream of!
