Not homeless yet...

So sometime during late winter, I forget exactly when now, but probably sometime in February-ish, Amy came to crash with me for a while. Her LG&E had literally eaten her out of house and home, and she was cold. So I finally convinced her to come crash until things improved. It just so happened that Amy liked being here. It also just so happened that I liked having her around. And so, a partnership began. Amy and I have always had a lot in common, and our most recent and pressing commonality was a need for a new home with more space, at a lesser price than we were currently paying. And so it came to pass that Lori and Amy embarked upon a journey to become permanent roommates. One might think that this would be an easy journey. Read the classifieds, call the leasers, rent the apt. However, Amy and I both have pretty good apartments. We want better. And we're merging two homes full of "stuff". We need bigger. However, we must keep in mind that our primary goal is "cheaper".

It is now mid-May. We still have not found a home that meets all of our qualifications. I will admit, "searching" for a home can be a relative term. If we drive around getting phone numbers for two hours, yet don't call the numbers, we are not being very productive after all. But since we're currently paying two rents, it is seeming more and more critical that we find a place soonish. So Amy and I spent the better part of today (ok, 3 hours) searching for a new place to call home. We actually found one that we like, and we did put in an application for it. However, there was a couple there at the same time who also put in an application for it. Best case scenario, even if we do get the house, we still have to do some research on what the utilities run before we commit. So...this is a tedious process which is taking far longer than either of us had anticipated. I sincerely hope, though, that within the next month or so, I will be posting pictures of our new abode.

And that's the story of how Lori and Amy are becoming more than just friends, but also roommates.
